Mazda has unveiled a new topline trim level for its MX-5 Miata called the Sport Recaro special edition.

Bolstered by extra equipment and sportier styling cues, the special edition model is based on the Sport Nav trim and will be limited to 600 units. This is the second limited edition MX-5 for the fourth-generation ND model; the first one was the Launch Edition.

Of course, the defining feature of this model is the heated Recaro sport seats covered in Alcantara, red contrast stitching and red piping, but like the 2.0-liter Sport Nav model it’s based on, the roadster also benefits from a few performance upgrades like a sports suspension with Bilstein dampers, a limited slip differential and a strut tower bar.

On the outside, the Sport Recaro model gets a black aero kit with a rear spoiler, and front, side and rear skirts. Piano black door mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels engraved with the MX-5 logo complete the look.

The special MX-5 will come in either a Soul Red Metallic or Ceramic Metallic paint color free of charge. Each of the 600 models will have an individually numbered badge on the center storage box lid. So far, there are no plans to bring the Sport Recaro to North America, but it is available in the U.K.
